Coveris delivers innovative monomaterial sleeve for Dr. Beckmann

Coveris has successfully developed and delivered an innovative monomaterial sleeve solution for Dr. Beckmann’s first liquid fabric softener launch in France, taking the project from concept to market in just six months.

Combining sustainability, operational efficiency and strong shelf appeal, the new SleeveFlex Ultra Stretch solution uses around 30% less material than conventional shrink sleeves and helps address current and evolving regulatory requirements.

Combining shelf appeal with sustainability

To support its expansion into the liquid fabric softener category, Dr. Beckmann required a packaging solution for its newly designed bottle that combined premium shelf appeal with sustainability. Coveris partnered with the company to develop and implement the packaging sleeve solution for the new Dr. Beckmann Quick Wash Fabric Softener within an ambitious timeframe, made possible through close cooperation, reliable execution and dedicated on-site support.

At the heart of the project is SleeveFlex Ultra Stretch, Coveris’ elastic stretch sleeve made from monomaterial LDPE film. Suitable for both PET bottles and HDPE containers, it supports bottle-to-bottle recycling on PET through its floatable design and creates a fully monomaterial PE packaging solution on HDPE, helping brands meet current and future Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) requirements.

Significant operational efficiencies

In addition to its sustainability benefits, SleeveFlex Ultra Stretch delivers significant operational efficiencies. Compared with conventional shrink sleeves, it uses around 30% less material and eliminates the need for a steam tunnel, saving approximately 150 kilograms of steam per hour. The flexible sleeve also removes the need for temperature-controlled transport and special storage conditions, helping reduce total operating costs by up to 50%.

As a full-service packaging partner, Coveris supported Dr. Beckmann throughout the project, from selecting the right technology and integrating new machinery to commissioning the production line, helping bring the solution from concept to commercial launch in just six months.
